I am a founding partner of HD Collaborative Law, a law firm dedicated to helping families through conflict using collaborative practice and mediation. HD Collaborative Law began in Waterloo and is now proud to serve clients in the Ottawa region.
My legal career began in a busy family litigation practice, which gave me the experience to know that court is almost never a good place for families. Often, the traditional family law system increases conflict and makes co-parenting and communication problems worse, at huge emotional and financial cost to everyone involved. I chose to focus my practice on collaborative practice and mediation because I believe strongly that consensual dispute resolution is better suited to families.
Collaborative practice is a framework to enable lawyers (and other professionals, if needed) to provide you with knowledge, expertise, and support to separate from your spouse in a way that is respectful, honest, and driven by you and your needs and interests. You are the best source of solutions that will work for your family’s unique situation on an ongoing basis – why leave those decisions to a judge?
I would be pleased to discuss collaborative practice and whether it is the right process for you, so please contact me for a free 30 minute consultation.
Office hours are by appointment in Centretown.
